Punch-Card Classes

Martial Conditioning

People participating in a Martial Conditioning class

Martial Conditioning is a great way to get your heart rate up while having a great time! We spend 30 minutes engaged in fun punching bag drills, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Tabata intervals, compound exercises, and much more! Each class is unique! Did we mention the high-energy class is backed by some awesome music? (Yes, we take requests!)

Just like our other punch-card classes, no previous martial arts experience is needed. All exercises have modifications to make class accessible to anyone, from those starting out in an exercise program to the fittest of the fit. Class content varies to keep interest up and participants moving but always consists of both cardiovascular and strength exercises with a focus on functional movements and full-body, compound, and bodyweight exercises. Punching bag exercises are common and lightweight bag gloves are recommended but not required. We sell several varieties right at the Academy.

Stick and Knife

Students with their escrima sticks

Stick and Knife class incorporates tapping, flow, and disarm drills using one or two sticks (escrima) and/or knife. The class is based on the principles of the Phillippine martial art Kali.

Just like our other punch-card classes, no previous martial arts experience is needed. Two escrima sticks and a training knife are required to take the class and can be purchased right at the Academy. A ballcap may be worn to help protect the eyes if desired. Come get your workout in while working with an awesome (and common!) weapon.

Women's Only Self Defense

Master Neill with a female student

Women's Only Self Defense class is just that: a class just for ladies only that introduces and reviews proven self defense techniques in a safe and fun manner! Each class covers basic techniques and topics to empower women to feel more confident and secure in their daily lives. After hosting many women's self defense seminars at the Academy and seeing the interest (and fun had) at each one, we decided to make it a class of its own!

Just like our other punch-card classes, no previous martial arts experience is needed. Classes teach valuable skills like how to identify and take advantage of pressure points and vulnerable areas; the proper way to strike and kick while avoiding injury; and easy methods of escaping grabs. In addition, topics such as how to be more aware of one's surroundings; how to identify red flags; and best practices for going out are covered in each class.
