Rules
of the Dojang (School)
- Please
be on time for your scheduled classes. Remember to request permission
to enter a class late.
- Embrace
a learning attitude. Be “open minded” to all the information
provided during class.
- Students
are prohibited from disciplining each other during class. This includes
parents and children alike.
- Let the
instructor know if you are uncomfortable with any exercise or aspect
of class.
- If a
student is ever involved in an incident where violence or trouble of
any sort occurs, the Chief Instructor should be notified immediately.
- Any student
behaving inappropriately out side of the Dojang: “showing off”,
intimidating others, or in any way abusing the art, shall be reprimanded
by the Chief Instructor.
- Smoking,
drinking and use of drugs are forbidden inside the Dojang. Students
are forbidden to engage in these activities, while in uniform, outside
the Dojang.
- No student
shall leave the Dojang during a work-out without first notifying the
most senior instructor present. Additionally, no child shall leave the
building without a parent or guardian present.
- Shoes
are not allowed on the work-out floor unless you are participating in
the cardio-kickboxing, or aerobics class, and/or with special permission
from the Chief instructor.
- Profanity
or any display of anger or hostility will not be tolerated. Any student
displaying these behaviors is subject to loosing the privilege of being
a member of Neill’s Taekwondo and Fitness.
- Student’s
will not eat, drink, or chew gum in the Dojang. Excluding closed bottles
of water (H2O).
- No jewelry
is to be worn during class by any student. Exceptions are made for wedding
bands and medical tags.
- We always
try to have as much fun as possible but, no student should behave carelessly
because this could result in injury to a classmate or yourself.
- Listen
carefully to the instructor at all times and remember to raise your
hand for any questions you would like to ask. Please feel free to ask
as many questions as you would like.
- Never
ask to spar with the instructor. This is considered highly disrespectful
and is not appropriate.
- Do not
ask permission to test nor to be taught material or exercises above
your belt level.
- Do not
argue with the instructor. If you feel that you need to work on certain
points of training, the instructor can schedule time with you on that
topic after class.
- Students
should not ask “When will I test for my next belt?” as well
as “Can I test early?” or “What do I need to do to
test early?” These questions are disrespectful. The instructor
will let you know when you are ready to progress on to the next rank.
If you have a conflict with the testing roster that is posted one week
prior to the test scheduling, accommodations can be made.
- Respect
is mutual, so respect your senior ranks and junior ranks equally and
they in turn will respect you.
- Students
who have an injury should consult their doctor before participating
in class.
- Students
will aid in cleaning the Dojang. The cleaning actions can be used to
exercise and condition muscles. Remember “wax on, wax off”
worked for the Karate Kid.
- Students
are forbidden to lean on, write on, or tarnish the mirrors and walls
with hand prints.
- Visitors
are always welcome! A student who brings his/her friend to class should
introduce that person to the instructors present and provide them with
seating. Visitors are asked to avoid disrupting class. If the visitor
does disrupt the class, the student that invited the guest is responsible
for tending to their guest.
